The 20 Best AI Conferences
2026/2027
Hundreds of AI events compete for your time – few are worth it. Here are the twenty we attend, recommend or simply organise ourselves – each with an honest reason why, and the trade-off nobody prints in the programme. And yes: one of ours sits at the top. We wrestled with ourselves for a long time. About four seconds.
AICon Heidelberg 2027
Number one – as determined by an entirely independent jury (us). Seriously though: up to 150 speakers, around 1,000 attendees, 50+ partners from the City of Heidelberg and Bosch to IBM and Heidelberg University – and humanoid robots live on stage instead of on slides. Research meets implementation.
Trade-off: You risk us telling you all about it afterwards. At length.
Rise of AI Conference
The strategy classic of the European AI scene, curated for over a decade. Less about frameworks, more about the big picture: Europe's role in the AI race, deep-tech investment, responsibility.
Trade-off: Deliberately small and curated – not the place for trade-fair bustle.
AIDAQ by Bitkom
The digital association's flagship conference on AI, data and quantum. The right room if you want to know where German AI policy guardrails are heading – with short paths to the people setting them.
Trade-off: Association perspective dominates – hands-on tech happens elsewhere.
TECH by Handelsblatt
Handelsblatt's tech festival on the Heilbronn education campus, at the heart of the Innovation Park AI (Ipai) ecosystem. Business journalism meets AI location policy meets startup stage – one of the most exciting newcomers in the German event landscape.
Trade-off: A young format still maturing – each edition decides how much substance joins the show.
applied AI Conference
Close to research and industry: Europe's largest applied-AI initiative shows how models become operations – training, edge AI, automation. Little show, lots of substance.
Trade-off: Sober and dense – networking glamour is not on the agenda.
AICon Industry Mannheim
Us again – what a coincidence. The industry edition of AICon answers the one question most AI projects fail at: how does AI get from the presentation into production? Industrial AI, robotics and intelligent automation with real use cases – together with the City of Mannheim and NEXT MANNHEIM.
Trade-off: Pure industry focus – for consumer AI, see number one.
ML Conference
For the people who actually build it: data scientists and engineers. Machine learning, MLOps and GenAI workflows in hands-on sessions instead of panel prose.
Trade-off: Without technical grounding you will quickly feel in the wrong movie.
Handelsblatt KI-Gipfel
The C-level summit: AI as a board topic, not a lab project. Strategy, responsibility, hard economics – and an audience that makes decisions rather than postponing them.
Trade-off: Four-digit ticket price – plan your insight-per-euro carefully.
data:unplugged
The data and AI festival with the most unusual venue on this list (a scrapyard art compound – seriously). Sounds like show, delivers surprising amounts of practice.
Trade-off: Festival volume included – focused one-on-ones need luck.
Transform
AI strategy, regulation and business application at the interface with politics. If you wrestle with the AI Act, data spaces and safe scaling, you get first-hand answers here.
Trade-off: Closer to Berlin-Mitte than to the engine room – implementers need a complement.
hub.berlin
Bitkom's business festival for the digital economy: AI, data and deep tech in festival atmosphere, with a good mix of corporates, Mittelstand and startups.
Trade-off: Broad digital programme – the pure AI share varies by stage.
WeAreDevelopers World Congress
Europe's largest developer event with a fast-growing AI-engineering programme. No better place to excite or recruit dev teams for AI.
Trade-off: 15,000 developers – decision-makers without tech affinity stay spectators.
KI 2026 – German Conference on AI
The venerable academic AI conference of the German Informatics Society – the scientific backbone of German AI research since the seventies. See here what will be in the products in three years.
Trade-off: Paper sessions instead of buzzword bingo – the transfer work is on you.
Big Data & AI World
Trade show for data, analytics and AI alongside Cloud Expo Europe – free entry, high vendor density, good for a market overview and tool comparison in one day.
Trade-off: It is a trade fair: without a clear plan you leave with 40 branded pens.
Microsoft AI Tour
Microsoft's free AI practice day: Copilot, Azure AI and agents hands-on, with labs and plenty of enterprise practice.
Trade-off: One vendor, one worldview – other ecosystems' roadmaps are naturally absent.
NVIDIA GTC
THE AI developer conference – keynote and hundreds of sessions free to stream. A must to calibrate the technical state of the art.
Trade-off: Remote stays remote: no hallway talk, no network, no chance encounters.
World Summit AI
The look across the fence: one of the leading global AI summits, a train ride away. An international speaker density Germany does not offer.
Trade-off: Global also means: US and UK perspectives dominate, EU specifics run on the side.
European Robotics Forum
Europe's robotics community in one place: research, industry and EU funding policy. For anyone serious about physical AI, the densest date of the year.
Trade-off: A community format – without ties into the scene it stays distant.
Women in Data & AI Festival
Europe's festival for women in data and AI – strong content, an atmosphere unlike any other conference on this list. A win for teams, too.
Trade-off: One day a year – if this is your only diversity stop, you have misunderstood the topic.
Swiss {ai} Weeks
Switzerland-wide AI action weeks: dozens of formats from ETH to business associations. Ideal to widen the DACH view with the Swiss sovereignty perspective.
Trade-off: Decentralised across weeks – a single visiting day only scratches the surface.
Dates not listed were unconfirmed at the time of writing – always check with the organiser.
